Kevin Kolb’s Trade Value

ESPN’s John Clayton mentions that even though Michael Vick has re-solidified himself as a top quarterback in the NFL, Kevin Kolb could actually have more trade value than Vick. Clayton points out that Vick is 30 years old and takes a number of hits while Kolb is only 26 years old and limits the number of hits that takes because he stays in the pocket.

One thing to consider is that Vick performance and ability has a lot to do with his ability to make plays with his legs. Aging players lose their speed and agility as they age which makes Vick’s NFL lifespan more limited than that of a traditional pocket quarterback.

Clayton mentions that Kolb could actually net the Eagles a first and third-round pick because of his NFL experience. A lot teams will be in need of a quarterback to build around which will make Kolb more sought after than some of the available quarterbacks in the upcoming draft.

Teams in need of a quarterback would include: Arizona, Buffalo, Minnesota, and San Francisco.
