Kevin Smith Signs A One Year Deal With Detroit

Pro Football Talk reported earlier in the day that the Detroit Lions have agreed to a one-year deal with RB Kevin Smith.

Last year, the Lions lost rookie RB Mikel Leshoure for the season with an Achilles tendon tear and Jahvid Best suffered another very serious concussion which left them pretty thin at the position. They even tried to trade for Jerome Harrison, but it was discovered that he had cancer during his physical examination so the Lions turned to Kevin Smith who stepped in and looked pretty good. Unfortunately, he wound up getting hurt as well. He did manage to gain 140 yards rushing on the ground, racked up 61 receiving yards and got into the end zone twice for the Lions before his injury.

We have Smith listed as the #46 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
