Knee Surgery Expected To Sideline Vikings DT Sharrif Floyd For 5-6 Weeks

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that that Vikings DT Sharrif Floyd underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and is expected to be sidelined for five to six weeks.

Floyd’s knee surgery was on his meniscus and it involved trimming the ligament.

Floyd, 25, was taken with the No. 23 overall pick back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $7.671 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $941,300 in 2016 when the Vikings picked up his fifth-year option back in May.

The option tender will run the Vikings $6.7 million in 2017, but is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

This season, Floyd has been active for one but has yet to record a single statistic.

We’ll have more regarding Floyd and his return from knee surgery as the news is available.
