Former 49ers RB LaMichael James passed through waivers unclaimed on Tuesday and is now able to sign with a team of his choosing.
San Francisco granted James his release on Monday and it appeared as though someone would have placed a waiver claim.
James, 24, was taken in the second-round of the 2012 draft, but was unable to carve out a role with the 49ers. Previous reports mentioned that James had requested a trade, but there was little to no reported interest.
Last year, the 49ers had James active for just 10 games, which had a lot to do with him being slotted as the No. 4 running back on the team’s depth chart. To make matters worse, James played just 28 snaps this season and totaled 59 yards on 12 carries.
We’ll have more regarding any potential visits as the news is available.
