Larry Fitzgerald Plans To Announce Whether He’ll Return In “Week Or Two”

Cardinals veteran WR Larry Fitzgerald mentioned during an interview with the NFL Network that he’s “excited about what the future holds” and plans to make a decision regarding whether he’ll return in “about a week or two.”

Fitzgerald said last week that he will only play for Arizona if he decides to continue his NFL career.

There’s no chance,” Fitzgerald said on SiriusXM NFL Radio, via Alex Marvez. “This will be it. If it’s not with the Cardinals, we’ve seen the last of Larry Fitzgerald in the National Football League wearing No. 11.”

Fitzgerald possibly retiring has been a topic the past few years and while he did sign a one-year, $11 million extension with the Cardinals back in November (NFLTR), it’s still something worth monitoring in the coming months.

Fitzgerald, 34, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2004. He agreed to renegotiate his seven-year $113 million contract and signed a two-year, $22 million deal with Arizona that was fully guaranteed included a no-trade clause back in 2015.

Arizona later gave him another one-year, $11 million extension before last season that kept him under contract through 2017. Fitzgerald is in line to be an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2017, Fitzgerald has appeared in 14 games and caught 92 receptions for 982 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Fitzgerald as the news is available.
