Latest On Cowboys RB Joseph Randle & Possible Suspension

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media has the latest regarding Cowboys RB Joseph Randle and a potential suspension from the NFL for violating the personal-conduct policy.

“Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was deemed to have violated the NFL’s personal-conduct policy for a recent arrest in Wichita, Kansas,” Rapoport said. “He received the report (Wednesday), which was part of the reason he exited the Cowboys facility. The charges were dropped, but the league kept investigating. He faces a one- or two-game suspension (not a six-game suspension because it’s not domestic violence related), or he could be potentially fined. The main offense is firearm related. The NFL and NFL Players Association are in discussions now about a potential settlement to Randle’s issue.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said that Randle’s roster spot is not in jeopardy right now, and he’s excused from the team while he deals with this personal issue.

Todd Archer and Adam Schefter first reported that Randle was facing discipline for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

According to the report, Randle met with NFL investigators this summer and within the past week regarding an incident that occurred in Wichita, Kansas back in February, where Randle was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police received a call for domestic violence with a weapon after an incident with Randle and the mother of his son.

The mother of Randle’s son said he broke a car window in an argument and threatened her with a gun with their son nearby. However, charges were later dropped, but he still faces sanctions from the NFL. The NFL has conducted their own investigation into the matter.

This was the second arrest for Randle in a matter of four months.

Randle, 23, is in the third year of his four-year, $2.349 million rookie contract that included a $188,820 signing bonus. He stands to make base salaries of $585,000 and $675,000 over the next two years.

This season, Randle has appeared in six games and ran for 313 yards on 76 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with 10 receptions for 87 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
