- Ben Volin is “hearing” that the 49ers will also sign Lavelle Hawkins.
- Adam Schefter reports that Collie receives a one-year deal.
San Francisco also brought in Laurent Robinson for a workout on Friday, but it appears as though Collie and Hawkins were more impressive.
Collie, 27, had already met with the 49ers back in June. It’s also worth noting that Collie has a history concussions and suffered a season-ending ruptured patellar tendon last season, so there are some obvious injury concerns with him.
We had Collie listed as the No. 8 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
Robinson has already met with a number teams since deciding to return to NFL including the Dolphins, Jets, Lions and Patriots. He has yet to receive a contract for any of them.
Robinson last played for the Jaguars in 2012, but suffered multiple concussions, which subsequently led to his release. The Jaguars signed him to a five-year, $32.5 million contract back in 2012 after his breakout season with the Cowboys.
Claiming he is symptom free, Robinson plans to resume playing and doesn’t mind doing so on a non-guaranteed contract.
