Falcons LB Curtis Lofton Set To Hit Open Market

NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora reports that it’s looking “increasingly likely” that ILB Curtis Lofton will not be returning to Atlanta next season.

It is becoming increasingly unlikely that free agent MLB will return to Atlanta. Atlanta does not want to meet Lofton’s contract demands, and have added free agent Lofa Tatupu earlier today, who will most likely compete with last year’s thirdround pick Akeem Dent.

Lofton is considered by most to be one of the best available inside linebackers. Lofton has never missed a game in his 4 year career, and could be just hitting his prime at age 25. Lofton totaled a career-best 147 tackles with a sack, seven passes defensed and two interceptions with a touchdown. Atlanta chose to use it’s franchise tag on cornerback Brent Grimes earlier in the week.
