LeGarrette Blount May No Longer Be A Goal Line Back?

Buccaneers running back LeGarrette Blount may have lost his job the team’s goal line back, according to Roy Cummings.

“Running back LeGarrette Blount may have lost his job as the goal-line back after failing to score on three tries from the 1-yard line in the loss to the Saints,” Cummings wrote. “The Bucs will have to consider using Doug Martin from here on. They can’t afford to waste scoring opportunities.”

Even with his big 250-pound frame, Blount has historically struggled in short-yardage situations. If Blount is removed as the goal line back, his role in the offense appears to be very minimal now. On top of being the Buccaneers featured back, it would seem likely that Doug Martin would be used in short-yardage and goal line situations.
