Lions Activate DE Armonty Bryant, Waive WR Aaron Dobson & OT Brian Mihalik

According to Adam Caplan, the Lions have activated DE Armonty Bryant from their exemption list on Saturday and placed WR Aaron Dobson and OT Brian Mihalik on waivers.

  • The Lions also promoted LB Steve Longa to their active roster.

Bryant, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Browns back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.221 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

The Browns elected to waive him recently and was claimed by the Lions earlier in the week after severing a suspension to open the year.

In 2015, Bryant has appeared in 14 games and recorded 40 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a recovery for the Browns.

Dobson, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $3.428 million rookie contract that included $1.173 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $872,505 in 2016 when he was waived by the Patriots a few weeks ago.

Dobson has been on and off of the Lions’ active roster in the past few weeks.

In 2015, Dobson appeared in eight games and caught 13 passes for 141 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Mihalik, 23, is a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles back in 2015. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason last year, but later signed on to the Eagles’ practice squad.

Philadelphia eventually waived him from their taxi squad with an injury settlement. Mihalik would later sign a future/reserve contract with the Steelers. However, he was waived with the injury designation and later placed on injured reserve after clearing waivers.

The Steelers later waived him from their injured reserve list with an injury settlement a few weeks into the preseason. Mihalik signed on with the Lions just a few days ago.

Mihalik has yet to appear in an NFL game.
