Lions Brought In Veteran DE Corey Wootton For A Tryout

The Detroit Lions brought in free agent DE Corey Wootton for a tryout in recent days, according to Howard Balzer.

However, it appears as though the Lions elected to not sign Wootton at this time.

Wootton previously worked out for the Saints and Titans, so there has been at least some interest in him over the past few weeks.

Wootton, 27, is a former fourth round pick of the Bears back in 2010. He wound up playing out his rookie contract with the team before signing a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Vikings last March.

In 2014, Wootton, appeared in 15 games for Minnesota and recorded 16 tackles, one sacks and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 55 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.
