Lions Claim OLB Corey Lemonier Off Waivers From Browns, Waive CB Adairius Barnes

The Detroit Lions have claimed OLB Corey Lemonier off of waivers from the Browns on Thursday, according to Adam Schefter.

  • Dave Birkett reports that the Lions waived CB Adairius Barnes to make room for Lemonier.

Lemonier, 24, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. The 49ers elected to waive him coming out of the preseason and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Browns.

Lemonier is in the final year of his four-year, $2.714 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $685,000 for the 2016 season before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent next year.

The Lions elected to cut Lemonier on Wednesday to make room for RB Darius Jackson, who was claimed off of waivers from the Cowboys.

In 2016, Lemonier appeared in eight games for the Browns and recorded nine tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and a pass defense.

Barnes, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech back in May. He stands to make base salaries of $540,000 over the next two years $630,000.

In 2016, Barnes has appeared in seven games and recorded seven tackles and no interceptions for the Lions.
