According to Lions DE Cliff Avril, both the Lions and his representation continue to discuss a long-term contract.
“Yeah we’re talking,” Avril said, via the Detroit Free Press. “We’re still trying to get things figured out before camp. I want to be there long term. I want to get a deal done. I don’t want to play under the franchise tag.”
Avril was asked whether or not he plans to join the team for the start of training camp, to which declined to address the topic. They’ll have until July 16th to get something done, or the franchise tag will end up being Avril’s only option, if he’s expecting to play this season.
