Lions Could Sign Veteran DT Derek Landri

According to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, it’s “not out of the question” that the Lions could sign veteran DT Derek Landri before the start of training camp.

  • Caplan adds that Landri has been a favorite of Detroit defensive line coach Jim Washburn.

The Lions just released veteran DT Vaughn Martin just three months after they signed him as a free agent, so they could use some help at the position.

Landri, 30, actually worked out for the Lions last week. The Buccaneers released Landri back in February, but he hasn’t found a lot of interest on the open market.

He appeared in only eight games this past season and finished the year with nine total tackles and a single sack.

If the Lions were to bring him in, he would likely have to compete with fourth-round pick Larry Webster and veteran Darryl Tapp for playing time.
