Lions Cut Six Players

Tim Twentyman of the DetroitLions.com reports that the team has released six players on Saturday as they work to get down to 75 before next week’s deadline.

According to Twentyman, the Lions cut G Alex Bullard, G A.J. Dalton, DT Greg Hickman, RB Steven Miller, DE Kris Redding and WR Conner Vernon.

There aren’t any major surprises among this group of players.

Redding went undrafted out of Wake Forest this year. During his four-year college career, Redding recorded 64 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Vernon, 23, was claimed off of waivers a few weeks ago, so his stay with Detroit was brief. He originally signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Duke last year, but wasn’t able to make the team’s final 53-man roster.

Vernon later signed a future/reserve contract with the Bengals in December of last year. Cincinnati claimed him off of waivers a few weeks ago.

We’ll have more updates regarding the Lions roster cuts as the news is available.
