Lions DE Ziggy Ansah Expected To Be Out Through Week 4

According to Adam Schefter, Lions DE Ziggy Ansah’s high-ankle sprain is likely to keep him out of the lineup today and next weekend.

  • Schefter confirms that Ansah is getting a second opinion on his MRI this week.

Ansah was forced from Week 2’s game with a left ankle injury and had a tough time putting weight on it, so it was clear that this could be a severe ankle sprain for Ansah.

Ansah, 26, was taken with the No. 5 overall pick back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $18.595 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $2.941 million for the 2016 season when the Lions picked up his fifth-year option.

Ansah’s option tender will run the Lions $12.7 million in 2017, but this figure is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

This season, Ansah has recorded two tackles and no sacks for the Lions over the course of two games.

We’ll have more regarding Ansah and his return as the news is available.
