Lions DE Ziggy Ansah Ruled Out From Week 7

According to Tim Twentyman, the Lions have downgraded DE Ziggy Ansah to out for Week 7’s game.

Earlier this week, Ansah said he “wouldn’t wish [his injuries] upon nobody.” (NFLTR)

“I wouldn’t wish [his injuries] upon nobody,” Ansah said Friday, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “I’m just happy that I’ve been better over the weeks, and I’m just looking forward to keep improving.

Ansah is well aware of the frustration from fans that he isn’t out there with the team and says he’s committed “to do what’s best for me and the team.

I get [that fans are frustrated], and that only tells me how much love they got for me,” Ansah said. “They just want me to come out there and play and that’s what I’m going at. I come in here every single day just to get better and be out there and play with the boys.”

Ansah, 28, was taken with the No. 5 overall pick by the Lions back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $18.595 million rookie contract before the Lions picked up his fifth-year option last May.

Ansah made a base salary $12.7 million for the 2017 season before the Lions used the franchise tag on him. Ansah signed the tender worth around $17.5 million fully guaranteed for the 2018 season.

The Lions placed him on the physically unable to perform list in July but activated him a month later.

In 2018, Ansah has appeared in one game for the Lions and recorded four total tackles and one sack.

We have him featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
