Lions Expected To Retain HC Jim Caldwell

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Lions’ ownership supports HC Jim Caldwell and plans to retain him for another season.

However, the Lions also expected to leave the final decision to up whomever they hire as their new GM.

This fits with a report from Ian Rapoport, who mentioned that within the Lions’ organization, it does not feel like Caldwell is set to be fired. According to Rapoport, the Ford family has strong feelings for Caldwell, who has quickly earned their respect.

Lions’ players have shown support for Caldwell in recent days, even though their 2015 season has largely been a disappointment.

Caldwell is in the second year of his contract with the Lions and has led them to a a record of 31-17 (54.8 percent) to go along with one playoffs appearance.

We’ll have more regarding Caldwell’s future as the news is available.

  1. This article does not make sense. They plan on keeping him? The GM has yet to be hired and has final say? So he may or may not stay is what your saying?
