Lions Have Interest In Titans CB Cortland Finnegan?

Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press reports that a league source has mentioned that the Detroit Lions “could” have interest in signing Titans CB Cortland Finnegan. Monarrez also lists the Rams, Cowboys, Raiders, 49ers, Buccanners and Jaguars as other possibilities.

Monarrez’s sources have said that Finnegan will be looking for a five or six year that will pay him an average of $10 million per season and lists Jonathan Joseph’s recent  five-year, $48.75 million contract as a comparable deal.

So far, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has brought in Kyle Vanden Bosch and Stephen Tulloch since taking the job in Detroit so it’s really not surprising to see the Lions mentioned as a possibility for Finnegan considering that they’re in need of help at the cornerback position.

It’s hard to say what the Titans plan is at this point but I doubt that they’re not considering using their franchise tag on one of their best players. There’s still time to get a deal done between them but it’s looking like Finnegan may have a shot to hit the open market.
