Lions Hosted LB Josh Bynes For Visit, Tried Out C Jacques McClendon

Aaron Wilson reports that the Lions hosted LB Josh Bynes for a visit on Monday and brought in Jacques McClendon and G Nila Kasitati for tryouts.

Bynes, 27, wound up signing on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in 2011. He spent just over three years in Baltimore before he was waived and later signed to the Lions’ practice squad at the start of the 2014 season.

Detroit later signed Bynes to a two-year, $1.81 million contract last year. However, he was waived with an injury designation during the preseason and later reverted to their injured reserve list. The Lions elected to release him from injured reserve with an injury settlement a week into the regular season.

In 2015, Bynes appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 82 tackles, a half sack, a forced fumble and five pass defenses.

McClendon, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Colts back in 2010. He has played for a number of teams since entering the NFL including the Lions, Steelers, Falcons, and Jaguars.

The Dolphins signed him to a contract in April of last year and he was on and off of their active roster before being released during the preseason. The Jaguars would sign him to a contract a few weeks later only to cut him loose during the first week of the season.

In 2015, McClendon appeared in three games for the Dolphins.
