Lions Hosting Free Agent DL Mike Patterson For A Visit

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Lions are meeting with free DL Mike Patterson on Wednesday.

  • La Canfora mentions that Patterson would give them some interior defensive line depth while also being reunited with DL coach Jim Washburn.

This the first reported interest in Patterson since free agency opened well over two months ago.

Detroit lost Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley during free agency, but still managed to bring in Haloti Ngata and Tyrunn Walker. They also used a fourth-round pick on Gabe Wright.

Patterson, 31, is a former first round pick of the Eagles back in 2005. He spent eight years in Philadelphia before joining the Giants as an unrestricted free agent in April of 2013.

In 2014, Patterson appeared in all 16 games for the Giants recorded 27 tackles. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 73 defensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
