Lions Hosting LB Bruce Carter For A Visit

Connor Hughes of Jets Wire reports that free agent LB Bruce Carter’s visit with the Jets has concluded without an agreement and he’s now scheduled to meet with the Lions on Thursday.

Carter’s market appears to be heating up now that we’re in the third wave of free agency.

It’s worth mentioning that signing to a contract wouldn’t factor into a team’s 2017 compensatory picks.

Carter, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract before signing on with the Buccaneers in March of last year.

Carter was in the second year of his four-year, $17 million contract when he was released in a move that freed up $4,250,000 in available cap space for the Buccaneers right before the start of free agency.

In 2015, Carter appeared in 14 games and recorded 47 tackles, two sacks, and two pass defenses for the Buccaneers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 68 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
