Aditi Kinkhabwala reports that the Lions are hosting free agent RB Frank Gore for a visit this week.
The Lions have been actively looking for running back help the past few weeks, which includes meeting with DeMarco Murray and Jonathan Stewart.
Gore, 34, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2005. He spent 10 seasons in San Francisco before signing a three-year, $12 million contract that included $7.5 million guaranteed with the Colts back in 2015.
Gore played out the final year of his contract and made a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2017 season. He’s once again in position to test the open market as an unrestricted this offseason.
In 2017, Gore appeared in all 16 games for the Colts and rushed for 961 yards on 261 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 29 receptions for 245 yards receiving and four total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 17 running back out of 58 qualifying players.
