Lions’ Interest In RB Reggie Bush Is “Real”

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press writes that the Lions’ interest in free agent Reggie Bush is “real.”

Birkett adds that “NFL people at the combine” seem to think that the Lions will make Bush their “primary target” in free agency.

Bush, 27, has been mentioned as a speculative target for the Lions for a few months now. Birkett mentions that Bush’s desired destination isn’t known, but the Lions are focused on surrounding QB Matthew Stafford with even more weapons to utilize next season.

The Bengals are another team to watch in the next few weeks. We have Bush listed as the No. 46 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Other Lions Notes:

  • Dwight Freeney could be an option to replace DE Cliff Avril. (Dave Birkett)
  • Florida State DE Bjoern Werner might “be the best fit” for the Lions, in terms of defensive end prospects. (Dave Birkett)
  • Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher could also be in play for the Lions at No. 5 overall. (Dave Birkett)
