Report: Lions K Jason Hanson Will Return For His 22nd Season

Update:

Mike Garafolo reports that Lions K Jason Hanson has decided to return for his 22nd season in the NFL.

Hanson will be 43 in June, which is honestly remarkable. The Lions have maintained that they would like to have him back for another season. He graded out as the No. 13 best kicker in the league last year, according to Pro Football Focus.

Hanson is currently an unrestricted free agent, but it’s doubtful that he would consider any team other than the Lions.

Paula Pasche of the Oakland Press writes that Lions K Jason Hanson is still weighing his options as to whether or not he’ll be returning for 22nd season in the NFL.

“I told them I really want to take my time and make sure that I’m not making a mistake by coming back and not going to regret that I left if I do,’’ said Hanson.

Hanson, 42, will be an unrestricted free agent in a matter of weeks, but it’s highly unlikely that he would be considering any team other than the Lions. Detroit has made it clear that they would like Hanson to return for another season.

Throughout his career, Hanson has made 495 field goals out of 601 attempts and has scored a total of 2150 points as the Lions kicker.
