Lions & LB Stephen Tulloch Far Apart In Contract Negotiations

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports that the Detroit Lions and LB Stephen Tulloch are “not close to getting a deal done.”

The team has already made it clear that they would like to retain Tulloch who put together a great season for them last season after coming over from the Tennessee Titans.

So far Detroit has said that DE Cliff Avril is at the top of their priorities list but losing a solid middle linebacker would create a pretty big issue for their defense. The Lions are expected to franchise Avril but contract talks with Calvin Johnson could complicate things even further. G.M. Martin Mayhew has said that he’s not considering releasing WR Nate Burleson and DE Corey Williams but that could change depending on what happens in the coming days.
