Lions May Allow RT Gosder Cherilus To Leave Via Free Agency

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press mentioned that impending free agent RT Gosder Cherilus may not be in the Lions’ offseason plans.

The Lions are expected to make major changes to their starting offensive line next season and Cherilus could be allowed to leave via free agency. Cherilus, 28, is an unrestricted free agent and might be sacrificed so that first round pick Riley Reiff can get more playing time.

Cherilus was actually rated as the No. 7 best tackle in the league this season by Pro Football Focus. The problem for him is that there are a number of offensive tackles available in this year’s free agent class, so it could force him to take less money than he would have received in previous years.

We have Cherilus listed as the No. 40 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
