Lions OLB DeAndre Levy Undergoing Hip Surgery, Could Be Placed On I.R.

Lions HC Jim Caldwell announced Wednesday that OLB DeAndre Levy will undergo surgery on his hip injury, per Tim Twentyman.

However, Caldwell added that they haven’t decided whether or not to place him on season-ending injured reserve.

Levy returned last weekend, but unfortunately aggregated his hip injury during the first half of Sunday’s game.

Levy, 28, was coming off of a breakout season for Detroit in 2014, which led to the Lions signing him to a five-year, $37.2 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed.

In 2014, Levy recorded 151 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interception, five pass defenses and a safety for the Lions over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 outside linebacker in 4-3 defense out of 40 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding the Levy and whether he’ll be placed on injured reserve as the news is available.
