Lions P Kasey Redfern Out For Season With Torn ACL/MCL & Partial Patellar Tear

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Lions punter Kasey Redfern is out for the season after he, unfortunately, suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and a partial tear of the patellar tendon during Sunday’s win over the Cardinals.

Detroit will likely place Redfern on injured reserve in the coming days.

Redfern, 25, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Wofford back in 2014. He was, unfortunately, cut loose during early roster cuts back in 2014, but he later returned to Jacksonville on a future/reserve contract.

Redfern had brief stints with the Chargers and Panthers before Carolina traded him to the Browns as part of the Andy Lee deal at the start of the 2015. Cleveland ultimately waived him a few days later and he sat out the entire 2016 season.

The Lions signed Redfern to a one-year, $465,000 this past April.

In 2017, Redfern appeared in one game and totaled 50 punt yards on a single attempt.
