Lions Place DE Kerry Hyder & RB Mike James On Injured Reserve

The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that they’ve placed DE Kerry Hyder and RB Mike James on injured reserve and waived G Matt Roteram.

Hyder, unfortunately, suffered an Achilles’ tear last week that forced him to undergo surgery and miss the entire 2017 season.

Hyder, 26, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech back in 2014. He spent a year in New York before signing a future/reserve contract with the Lions in January of 2015.

Hyder returned to the Lions on a one-year, exclusive rights contract this past April.

In 2016, Hyder appeared in all 16 games and recorded 37 tackles, eight sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.
