Lions Place LB Travis Lewis On I.R. & Promote TE Jordan Thompson

The Detroit Lions have placed LB Travis Lewis on season-ending injured reserve and signed TE Jordan Thompson to their active roster, according to Tim Twentyman.

Lewis, 26, was taken in seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Lions. Last year, he was suspended for four games after he violated the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Lewis still has one year remaining on his four-year, $2,157,848 rookie contract and will make a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

His year ends with him appearing in two games and recording just two tackles.

Thompson, 24, signed on with the Lions as a free agent back in April. He was unable to make the final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but he was later added to the team’s practice squad.
