Lions’ Players Reportedly Concerned HC Jim Caldwell Has Lost Team

According to Jason Cole of B/R, several Lions’ players are concerned that HC Jim Caldwell may have lost his ability to run the team.

Cole mentions that one recent problem from the player’s perspective was that Caldwell apparently did not know the rule that prevents players from batting a ball out of the playing field, and didn’t complain about this call being missed by officials.

While the team was reportedly happy with Caldwell’s decision to bench QB Matthew Stafford after he threw another interception in the second half of Sunday’s game, there’s still concern whether Caldwell will be able to win back the locker room in the coming weeks.

Following the loss to the Cardinals, Caldwell tried to shoulder the blame, saying he isn’t doing a very good job.

As of now, the Lions are 0-5 and the only team in the NFL that has yet to win a game. Barring significant improvement across the board, it appears likely that Detroit will end up with a top-5 pick in next year’s draft.

Last year, Caldwell led the Lions to an 11-5 record another will a playoff appearance. However, he’s a 11-10 overall since taking the job.
