Lions Promote CB Alex Carter To Active Roster, Sign WR Rashad Ross To PS

The Detroit Lions announced Saturday that they’ve promoted CB Alex Carter to their active roster and signed WR Rashad Ross to their practice squad.

Carter, 22, was taken in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Lions. He was, unfortunately, cut loose coming out of the preseason and later signed to their practice squad.

Last year, the Lions placed him on injured reserve with an ankle injury at the start of the season and later designated him as their player to return.

Carter has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Ross, 26, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in 2013. He had brief stints with the Chiefs, Redskins and Bears before returning to Washington during the 2014 season.

Ross has managed to make the 53-man roster in each of the past two years with the Redskins. However, he was cut loose by Washington earlier in the week.

In 2016, Ross has appeared in five games and caught one pass for eight yards receiving and no touchdowns. He has also contributed 22 kick return yards for Washington this season.
