Lions Promoting George Godsey To QBs Coach

Alex Marvez reports that the Lions are planning to make some coaching moves including promoting George Godsey to QBs coach and hiring Jeff Davidson as offensive line coach and Brian Stewart as DBs coach.

Detroit hasn’t officially hired Patriots DC Matt Patricia yet as their new head coach, but that hasn’t stopped him from getting his coaching staff in place before he’s introduced next week.

Godsey, 39, began his NFL coaching career with the Patriots back in 2011 as an offensive assistant. He worked his way up to tight ends coach before he was hired by the Texans as their quarterbacks coach in 2014. A year later, Houston elevated him to offensive coordinator but elected to move on after two seasons.

The Lions later hired Godsey as their defensive assistant-special projects.

In 2016, the Texans ranked No. 28 in total points, No. 29 in total yards, No. 8 in rushing yards and No. 29 in passing yards
