Lions QB Matthew Stafford Has Sprained Ankle & Hamstring Injury

Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that Lions QB Matthew Stafford suffered a sprained ankle and a hamstring injury during Sunday’s loss to the Panthers. , source says.

According to Graziano, the Lions plan for Stafford is to see how much he can do in practice this week and try to have him ready to play against the Saints this weekend.

Stafford was laboring through the fourth quarter, but he played really well, especially considering that he’s dealing with multiple injuries.

Should Stafford not be able to suit up for Week 6’s game, the Lions would turn to Jake Rudock as their starter.

Stafford, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Lions back in 2009. He was in the final year of his five-year, $76.5 million contract when he and the Lions agreed to a record-setting five-year, $135 million extension this offseason.

In 2017, Stafford has appeared in five games for the Lions and thrown for 1,116 yards while completing 64.2 percent of his passes to go along with nine touchdowns and one interception.
