Lions Re-Signing LB Tahir Whitehead To A Two-Year, $8M Deal

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Lions are re-signing LB Tahir Whitehead.

  • Rapoport adds that Whitehead receives a two-year deal worth more than $8M.

The Buccaneers actually brought Whitehead in for a visit on Thursday, but it appears as though he felt a return to Detroit was best for him.

Whitehead, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Lions back in 2012. He has played out his rookie contract and was in line for a sizable raise on the market.

In 2015, Whitehead appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 51 tackles, two sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 14 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.

We had him  featured in our Top 2016 Free Agents list.
