Lions Sign DE/OLB Quanterus Smith

The Detroit Lions announced that they’ve signed DE/OLB Quanterus Smith to a contract on Wednesday.

Smith, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Broncos back in 2013 out of Western Kentucky. He was unfortunately cut loose by the Broncos with a failed physical designation days before this year’s NFL Draft.

The Jets signed him to their practice squad towards the end of last season, but he was waived after a short stint with the team. Smith wound up signing a future/reserve contract with the Jaguars back in January only to be cut loose a month ago.

In 2014, Smith appeared in 15 games for the Broncos, but recorded just 11 tackles and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 51 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.
