Lions Sign LB Shamari Benton, Cut LB Justin Jackson

 

The Lions signed LB Shamari Benton to a contract Saturday and placed LB Justin Jackson on waivers, according to Dave Birkett.

Benton is an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan. He attended the Lions rookie minicamp back in May, so the team is obviously familiar with him.

During his four years at Central Michigan, Benton recorded 307 tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks, one interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Jackson, 22, signed with Detroit as an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest back in May.
