Lions Sign QB Ricky Stanzi To Practice Squad

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Lions have signed former Chiefs QB Ricky Stanzi to their practice squad on Tuesday.

Detroit had said that they planned to add a quarterback to their practice squad in the coming days, so this really shouldn’t come as a big surprise. Lions backup Kellen Moore is reportedly headed to the Cowboys’ taxi squad.

Here’s what the Lions practice squad currently looks like:

  1. CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste
  2. WR Andrew Peacock
  3. DE Larry Webster
  4. TE Casey Pierce
  5. DT Kerry Hyder
  6. S Isaiah Johnson
  7. RB George Winn (Exception)
  8. C Braxton Cave
  9. QB Ricky Stanzi

Stanzi, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2011. He spent two years with the Chiefs before he waived at the start of the 2013 season and later claimed off of waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Stanzi was once again waived at the start of the 2014 regular season, but later signed to the Texans practice squad.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
