Lions Sign RB Mike James To Practice Squad, Cut RB George Winn

The Detroit Lions announced that they’ve signed RB Mike James to their practice squad on Monday and waived RB George Winn from the unit.

The Lions’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Jace Billingsley
  2. CB Alex Carter
  3. WR TJ Jones
  4. CB D’Joun Smith
  5. QB Jake Rudock
  6. G Brandon Thomas
  7. DB Charles Washington
  8. LB Steve Longa
  9. LB Zavier Gooden
  10. RB Mike James

James, 25, is a former sixth-round pick by the Buccaneers back in 2013. He was waived a few weeks into the season but was later signed to their practice squad after clearing waivers.

Tampa Bay elected to waive James with an injury designation last week with an injury designation. After clearing waivers, James reverted to the Bucs’ injured reserve list. The Bucs waived him from I.R. with injury settlement a few weeks into the season.

James signed on to the Lions’ practice squad a few weeks ago.

In 2014, James appeared in 11 games and ran for 37 yards on 19 carries (1.9 YPC) to go along with one reception for minus five yards.
