Lions Sign Third-Round Pick C Travis Swanson

Lions third-round pick C Travis Swanson announced via his Twitter account Thursday that he has officially signed his rookie contract.

  • Swanson receives a four-year contract that is worth an estimated $2,956,972 and includes a signing bonus of $619,472, according to OverTheCap.com.

Swanson made 50 starts for the Razorbacks and was both first-team All-American as well as an All-SEC selection last year.

There was some buzz early on that he could end up being the first center drafted this year, but he wound up being the third center to come off the board in round three.

He didn’t post exceptional numbers at this year’s Scouting Combine, but it’s hard to too caught up in forty times when we’re talking about center prospects.

Swanson should be entering a good situation in Detroit as he is clearly their guy long-term once Dominic Raiola has called it a career.
