Lions Sign Veteran OT Garrett Reynolds

The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday that they have signed veteran OT Garrett Reynolds to a contract.

This comes after reports mentioned that backup right tackle Corey Hilliard could be out for the season. Starter LaAdrian Waddle is also dealing with a calf injury, so depth was really needed at the position.

The Lions actually signed Reynolds to a contract back in July, so they are more than familiar with what he brings to the table.

Reynolds, 26, was cut loose by the Falcons back in February in a move that freed up $1.385 million in cap space. He lost his starting job twice this past season, and after the Falcons signed former first-round pick Gabe Carimi, Reynolds became expendable.

Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 31 guard in the league out of 81 qualifying players. However, his pass and run-protecting ratings are closer to the average. Reynolds benefited from decent screen-blocking ratings and a lack of penalties.
