Lions Sign WR Dez Stewart & CB Tramain Jacobs, Cut Two

The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that they’ve signed CB Tramain Jacobs and WR Dez Stewart and waived CB Des Lawrence and WR Ryan Spadola with injury designations.

Should Lawrence and Spadola pass through waivers unclaimed, they would revert to the team’s injured reserve list on Wednesday.

Stewart, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Ohio Dominican back in May of last year but later signed on with the Buccaneers before being waived with an injury designation after just a few weeks.

After clearing waivers, he reverted to the Buccaneers’ injured reserve but was cut loose a month later. He had a brief stint with the Redskins and later signed on to the Packers’ practice squad last season.

The Steelers later signed him to a contract before waiving him with an injury designation and eventually cut him loose.

Stewart has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his four-year college career, Stewart totaled 196 receptions for 3,197 yards receiving (16.3 YPR) and 25 touchdowns. He also contributed 416 kick return yards and 171 punt return yards to go along with one return touchdown.

Jacobs, 25, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M back in May of last year. He was, unfortunately, among the Ravens’ final roster cuts at the start of the season, but he later signed on to the Giants’ practice squad.

The Giants waived him in August of last year and he was later claimed by the Raiders. However, his stay with Oakland was limited to just a few weeks.

In 2015, Jacobs has appeared in five games and recorded three tackles and no interceptions for the Giants.
