Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Lions and P Sam Martin have agreed to terms on a new four-year contract extension that will leave him as the third-highest paid punter.

  • Martin receives a four-year, $13.6 million contract, according to Adam Caplan.
  • According to Ian Rapoport, Martin’s deal includes another $1 million available through incentives.

Martin, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Lions back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.320 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Martin appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and totaled 3,416 yards on 80 attempts (42.7 per attempt) to go along with 43 touchbacks. Martin was No. 4 in net punting and had 27 punts down inside the 20-yard line.
