Lions Signing Veteran RB Justin Forsett

The Detroit Lions are signing RB Justin Forsett to a contract on Tuesday, according to Justin Rogers.

Forsett has already confirmed the news via his Twitter account:

Detroit brought in Forsett for a workout on Tuesday and could use some depth at running back, so this seems like a decent move for them.

Forsett, 30, was actually among the team’s roster cuts coming out of the preseason but he later signed a nearly identical contract with the Ravens right before the start of the regular season. He received a two-year, $6 million contract from the Ravens.

The Ravens will still owe Forsett his $3 million base salary because he’s a vested veteran who was on their roster to open the year.

In 2016, Forsett has appeared in three games and ran for 98 yards on 31 carries (3.2 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 36 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
