Lions Sticking With Nate Burleson Despite The Addition Of Ryan Broyles

According to Anwar S. Richardson of MLive.com, Lions WR Nate Burleson is not in jeopardy of losing his starting position, despite the recent addition of second-round pick Ryan Broyles.

In fact, Burleson is on board with the team’s overall strategy in regards to building their roster.

I’m a firm believer in just take the best athlete available,” said Burleson. “I don’t care if it’s a guy in my position, or if it’s somebody else. If we get the best player available, I know we’re going to be better.”

Burleson is coming off of a underwhelming season for a Lions, which is really saying something considering that they were one of the best passing units in the league. Broyles is still recovering from ACL surgery and has a good shot at starting the season the PUP list, so Burleson figures to be in the team’s plans for at least the early portion of the season. Still, he’ll have to show improvement to hold off Broyles in the long-run.
