Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew Out For Season With Torn ACL

Update:

Lions HC Jim Caldwell told reporters on Monday that TE Brandon Pettigrew suffered a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2015 season.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that while Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew is still awaiting tests on his injured knee, the expectation is he suffered a season-ending injury.

Birkett notes that Pettigrew had been playing well before this injury, so this would be clearly disappointing for the Lions and Pettigrew.

Pettigrew, 30, is in the second year of his four-year, $16 million contract that included $8 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $2.8 million this season and another $3.65 million in 2016.

Assuming this is it for Pettigrew in 2015, he would have finished the year with seven receptions for 67 yards receiving and a single touchdown over the course of eight games.

We’ll have more regarding Pettigrew’s injury as the news is available.
