Lions Place TE Joseph Fauria On Season-Ending I.R.

Update:

The Lions have officially placed TE Joseph Fauria on season-ending injured reserve Wednesday, per Tim Twentyman.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that Lions TE Joseph Fauria‘s 2014 season appears to be over as the Lions are expected to place him on season-ending injured reserve.

Fauria posted a message on Instagram Wednesday that further indicated that his season is over.

It will only make my future success that much sweeter. Trust I’m going to come back the best I’ve ever been.”

This comes just a day after the Lions signed veteran TE Kellen Davis to a contract, so indications are that Fauria’s ankle injury will cost him the remainder of the season.

Fauria, 24, still has another year remaining on his three-year, $1.503 million contract, which includes a base salary of $585,000 for the 2015 season.

Assuming this is it for Fauria, his 2014 season comes to an end with him catching six passes for 74 yards receiving and a touchdown. Last year, Fauria caught a staggering seven touchdowns for the Lions over the course of a full season.
