Lions Waive K Alex Henery

The Detroit Lions announced that they have waived K Alex Henery on Monday.

This should come as no surprise given that Henery missed three field goals in Sunday’s Week 5 loss to the Bills.

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported that Detroit has another kicker workout scheduled for Tuesday, so they should have a replacement in place at some point tomorrow.

There has been a lot of speculation that the Lions could sign former Broncos kick Matt Prater now that he has been released. Other available kickers include: Connor Barth, Rian Lindell, Jay Feely, David Akers, and Garrett Hartley.

Henery was cut loose by the Eagles last weekend as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players. Henery ultimately lost the starting job rookie Cody Parkey. He also worked out for the Jaguars in recent weeks.

Henery, 27, was successful on 82.1 percent of his field goal attempts and made one of two tries from at least 50 yards.
