Lions Waive TE Michael Egnew Days After Claiming Him

The Detroit Lions waived former third-round pick TE Michael Egnew on Saturday just a few days after the claimed him off of waivers from Miami.

The Seahawks reportedly placed a claim on Egnew as well, so they could be a team to watch in the coming days.

Egnew, 24, has been a major disappointment in his first years in the NFL and it seemed likely that he would go unclaimed, but it appears as though the Lions believe he’s worthy bringing in for an extended look.

Last year, Egnew appeared in 15 games for Miami and caught seven passes for 69 yards and no touchdowns.
